So I have the Samsung HT-Z510 home theatre system that I have recently tried hooking up to my Optoma HD65 projector. The problem I am having is that when I use component cables to the projector I get much better sound out of my speakers when compared to the HDMI cable, but the HDMI cable has much better picture quality. Anyone know why this could be?

since component video cables do not carry audio, I assume you and a Toslink optical cable or digital audio coaxial cable also hooked up for the sound ?

When you use an HDMI cable, have you properly set the audio output menu on the source device (sat/cable box, DVD player, etc.) to send the DD 5.1 audio over the optical or coaxial cable ?
