Hi all,

I'm after a new htpc - I currently own an acer revo 3600.

I was thinking of three different options,

#1

Asrock e350 zacate

4gb ddr3 kingston value ram

30gb kingston ssd

mini itx case (what would be a good option? Antec isk-150?)

possibly ati 6450/ nvidia gt430

asus xonar dg

#2

intel e2140 (already own)

asrock g41m mobo

4gb ddr3 kingston value ram

30gb kingston ssd

microatx case (what would be a good option?)

ati 6450/ nvidia gt430

asus xonar dg

#3

amd llano 3650

llano mobo probably asrock

4gb ddr3 kingston value ram

30gb kingston ssd

microatx case

my requirements are:

1080p playback

3d 1080p playback

ability to handle 40-50gb blu ray files

xbmc (windows or linux)

low power consumption

Thanks.

Zacate for the bottom solution, does 1080p and HD audio. Doesn`t do 3D

Intel G620T + mini-ITX mobo for something superior in performance. Does 3D (as far as i know).

[1][3]every board that you mentioned can handle 1080p .mkv & big bluray files.

[4]only nvidia cards playing properly using linux

[5]lower consuption needs any new platform.

That means that the lga775 with pentiun D and the discrete card its not very good idea.

[2]the difficult part is the 3d requirement.

you want sbs 3d .mkv playback with stereoscopic player or blu-ray 3D (frame packing)?

you have 1.4a avr or 1.3 avr?

if you have 1.3 avr you need a dual audio board.

you care about bitstreaming when playing 3d blurays?

a z68 board with i3 would be my choice for now.

otherwise i would wait to see some tests of the new zacate builds that make 3d to save some extra bucks
