Hi,

Having got all the hardware and software in my HTPC to work together over the weekend, I tried connecting it up to my Z1. First time, it detected the signal as 'WIDE THRU' and I was then able to tweak 'total dots', etc. to get 1:1 mapping. It looked absolutely stunning and I thought that I had finally reached the home-cinema Utopia, which I have been struggling for. Unfortunately, it seems that I was lucky the first time. Most of the time, it detects the mode as SVGA6 or VGA1 ([email protected]) or as MAC13 ([email protected]) From these it is impossible to get it set-up correctly as it only shows a limited portion of the desktop. The settings that I have saved (twice) in the user modes cannot be recalled. Has anyone been in a similar situation and got over it? How? Help!

TIA,

There is a bug in the current Z1 firmware, it does not automatically load up your last saved mode settings. If your having trouble getting 1:1 perfectly then do this: when it boots up, load up "Wide Thru", wait a bit to sync, then load up your saved mode. YES this is very annoying and it looks like sanyo will not be releasing any fixes.

Another annoying thing, I load up my mode 1 at 960x540, I load up quake 3 at 800x600 then when I exit, the damn thing loads up "Wide Thru" again and screws up my 1:1 pixel map.

So in summary, 2 issues need to be fixed in a firmware upgrade

1. Loading up your last saved mode setting (like how it loads up your color and brightness stuff)

2. When loading up another app in your HTPC and it changes the res, it should remember the right settings for that rez. I think Sanyo needs to program in the firmware a factory saved mode setting for 960x540 automatically.

I too have just set up my Z1 with an HTPC and have gone through the basic set up using Powerstrip and so far the image it quite good. However, I find the image has the slightest of stuttering. Does anyone know what settings I should adjust to fix this?

Can you guys post what settings you have Powerstrip at for comparison?

fyi - my Z1 shows widethru and did not have the problems you mentioned.

I've currently got it working by not running powerstrip - and it now works fine. I thought that I had only changed the refresh rate in PS, but I guess there must have been some other change to the timing which was causing this. I'll try deleting the pstrip.ini and starting again. Currently I'm running the standard windoze 60Hz, not ideal for PAL movies as I get 4:2 pulldown judder! Hopefully I will get to have stable 50Hz and 47.9...Hz for PAL and NTSC respectively for silky smooth pans. In the meantime, though, the picture is stunning - miles better than my 963SA gave - and that's without ffdshow!

I am going to try 1280x768 as some have suggested, since it uses the wide-thru settings anyway

Stay Tuned...

As for the previous posts, we are talking about saved modes not powerstrip, PS just gets us 960x540. I would like to know if anyone has gotten a newer unit with a newer firmware.
