I have headr that someone has used an HTPC to send a 1920X1080i test signal for calibration purposes. Does anyone know the particulars on this techniqueor, in the alternative, have any ideas on how to accomplich it?
This software along with a properly configured PC with custom HDTV timings ( powerstrip ) should be all you need. Works well for me. MAke sure you get a video card that will do interlaced at this resolution.
If your video card/driver support it, you should be able to get 1080i out to your HDTV and anything displayed on the computer goes out as a 1080i image. I know that you are using ColorFacts, and it will generate it's own test images. You won't even need DisplayMate, but you may need Mark Rejhon's Definitive HDTV Timings List to get the proper output.
Once this is done, any PC application should come up appearing as a 1080i HDTV signal to the display.
