I want to have a basic HTPC (if it actually qualifies as such). Basically a PC on my tv/avr. Something to surf, download movies, play music/videos on other PC's in my house, play MAME. NOT (necessarily) for TV recording or DVD playback. I have an HD DVR and am planning on getting a PS3.

I've been looking at HTPC motherboards and like HDMI on optical built in, but have not seen any with a convenient slot for a wireless card. I have never built a machine, only played with ones already put together. am I missing something?

I have looked at some people's configurations to get a feel, but have not seen any who mention being on a wireless network. I can't be the only one wanting to do this.

Also, case aesthetics won't matter. machine will be hidden behind a cabinet door. I do have a harmony 890. (hoping will work)

Most mobo's have PCI expansion slots that you can use for a PCI wireless card. Or you can use a USB wireless adapter. Wireless can throw a wrench into streaming video (especially HD), wired connections are always better but that's not to say you can't use wireless to stream.
