Been considering intstalling an HTPC and talked to a local tech. He said no HTPC dvd players will match the output of a dedicated progressive scan dvd player. Anybody done comparisions to confirm or deny?
An HTPC will blow away any analog progressive scan DVD player. In the digital domain I wouldn't care to comment how the DVI DVD Players would fare against a DVI enabled HTPC. I think in terms of various picture controls a HTPC would still enable you to tailor your picture in many more ways than a stand alone DVI player.
i just finished putting together my htpc and i am amazed at how much better the pq is versus my old progressive dvd player. Watched an old copy of Top Gun, man blown away. Then watched The Patriot in super bit, at times i swear i was looking at 3d
