I looked at that wonderful layout several times..thank you everyone that contributed. It was data overload for me.

I'd like a simple easy way to buy/build an HTPC with a Blu-Rey player to run to a good Onkyo 7.1 receiver that you all recommend. I want it as plain and cheap as possible nothing fancy. The HDTV I think I'm getting is a Sony with the new 24 True Cinnema or something like that.

I'd also like ease of use with REW and whatever else you all think I may need/want.

I want to do a true 7.1 surround with Blu-Rey...and I want to do the Exodus Anarchy MTs, MTMs, or MMTs... but I don't know the difference. Also, Kevin isn't designing them anymore but Dyohn might. Help there as well would be great!

I just ordered 2 Behringer EP-4000‏'s for the subs!

Well, first off, is this just going to be for blu-ray playback? Cause if so, just get a BD STB, not a HTPC.

If you want BD and DVD ripping along with HD tuners and a central music library, then a HTPC is worthwhile, but still not likely to be easy. To be quite honest, not much in HTPCs just works right now, there is a lot of tweaking, configuring, and troubleshooting to get everything working.

In terms of strictly blue-ray playback, absolutely nothing, in fact you're going to save yourself a lot of time.

I love my HTPCs, all five of them, and there isn't a single one of them that could be replaced by a BD player, but that's because I record OTA HD and what little un-encrypted cable I can still get. I also host almost 80GB of music that is played throughout the house and I have a central DVD collection that I can barely afford to keep enough storage for. I also watch Netflix in WMC and use hulu desktop for some shows that I can't record, and I'll be getting a Ceton Quad CableCARD tuner in the near future so I can get all of my cable on my HTPCs.

HTPCs are getting close to the full functionality of a STB, there are a few features still missing, but the amount of work that has to go into one is by no means a small task.

Decided to grab the Samsung, the only one with Netflix live stream capability..man what I had to go thru to get it... it's the floor display, paid full price...but I got the last one!

Bought Transformers and a bunch of other movies the other day...normal DVD... opened them all but Transformers so i can take that one back, and the lady that grabbed 2012 Blu Rey grabbed 2... so I can take that back tomorrow too LOL. I'll give all the others to my friends n fam!

I use hulu too... and I play my music from my PC on my HT. So how do I connect my cheap walmart PC I have to my HDTV and receiver? That was why I wanted to build an HTPC... so I can just run it all off it.
