I am building up my first HTPC, nothing too fancy. I would like to use the system to play MP3's, some videos (recorded AVI, etc.), and be my sole DVD player. The DVD player it will replace is DTS compatible, so I would like to maintain that capability. Should I go with a hardware decoder (such as the Creative DXR3)? If so I have some logistical questions. Does this card plug into my DTS-compatilble receiver (Sony) or does it still route through the sound card? What about video out? If this card handles TV out (as the description states), do I set up the player in Windows, then switch my receiver to DVD to watch the movie? Is there a more simple way to do this so I can leave my receiver on one input setting and still get s-video and DTS input (hopefully optical)? Any advice is appreciated.
