I'm building an HTPC next month. I'd like DRC and crossovers as part of the PC.

Based on comments received, DRC is best solved by essentially building two computers: one a Linux server and the second a Windows media client. The software to do this is at www.videolan.org This approach would allow me to use Linux based convolution for DRC. One piece of the puzzle that is missing is crossover SW. What is available in Linux? I'm told the Windows offerings are sparse.

If anyone has any suggestions/comments as to whether this will work, what problems I may encounter, etc., I'd love to heard it. Also, if there are SW/HW suggestions, I'd love to hear them as well. I need 12-14 channels for this to work (5 2-way speakers plus 1-2 subs or 3-way from fronts with 2-way rear and center channel plus 1-2 subs).
