I've been planning an HTPC upgrade for quite sometime now, and I just want to be sure I don't over do it and overspend unnecessarily.

Aside form the video card, are there any other components in an HTPC that affects PQ? I'm not talking about stability issues like stuttering, or lockups, just strictly quality of picture as in color, saturation, detail/sharpness, contrast or black level.

Can the type of components (intel vs. AMD vs. Sis vs.....and so and so on), CPU speed (higher than 550), or it's quality improve an HTPC picture image, or are they all pretty much created equal as far as PQ is concerned? Thanks in advance!

Cheers

Gerald: what are you going to be using the HTPC for? DVD playback? Scaling of external sources? High Def decoding? Your requirements will now vary quite greatly, depending on the use you put it to.
