I've finally gave in and decided to build a htpc after seeing 1080i on my 6pg. I need to keep price down so whats the cheapest route to get svideo in to my computer via my panny E80. I allready have a T150 receiver for hdtv so all I need it for is scaling dvd and dish no need for recording or a tuner I'm leaning towards a ati 9600 video card but would prefer a card that has built in software with no need for dscaler or powerstrip if possible. As for svideo is their much difference in quality between capture cards since I believe It pretty much runs off your video card anyway. If their is a difference what do I look for. By the way the capture card issue is just for getting video in not capturing.

Search for the threads about the Pixelview Xcapture card and the free Dscaler program ( www.dscaler.org ). It will set you back around $38 plus shipping and will give you stellar results.

if the Xcapture gives you conflicts (as it did with me) grab the flyvideo 2000 card which is $40 at tecnobazar.com.
