Do PC games scale themselves to the resolution of your desktop or must they always be played at whatever their 'native resolution' is. I'm wondering because I'd like to start buying some games but not unless I can get a full screen image on my rear-projection unit. I'd like to use the1440x960i timings because they give me a really good screen fit while still being able to read (although a bit blurry).

Will this work?

Most if not all full-screen games have their own configuration for resolution, independant of the desktop.

To make a game run at a non-standard native panel resolution means you need to setup each game to do that; not always easy! Most Quake 3 engined games can be done with a config file change, some other games have native support and some can't do it at all.

You'll find heaps more info in the Home Theatre Gaming forum area.
