Hello,


I have recently bought Spherex Xbox speaker system.

This unit has 2 digital optical one coaxial input. 1 Analog input.


I also purchased Yamaha HTR-5950 receiver. This receiver has 3 optical inputs and 1 optical and coaxial output.


What I want to do is connect the speakers to the receiver via optical cable so that I can use radio and utilize this nice Omnipolar speaker system.


The problem is when I select speakers input to optical input one (which is connected to optical output of the receiver) there is no sound at all.


I also have a coaxial input for the speaker and coaxial output for the receiver and that doesn't give me any sound either.


Any help to this newbie will greatly be appreciated.

You coud cut one end off of the rca wire and connect it like speaker wire to your receiver.

Both the optical cable (Toslink) and coaxial cable carry audio signals in digital format to your receiver. A few people argue about which one is better, but most agree they are equivalent. Just pick one and connect your Xbox to the receiver (in the same group as your HDMI or component in that you used, i.e. video 1).
