I am new to home theatre systesm .I have 16X19 game room which is open on one side . I am looking for setting up a HTS for this room. Costco has a deal on Bose Acoustimass 10 with Yamaha® HTR-4066  which i was about to buy but i am not sure after reading through couple of forums about Bose here..

My budget is around 1000-1200 bucks and i prefer small speakers as its  a game room .. any suggestions??

Thanks i will look into this... i don't mind spending a bit more if needed.. i do think i need a better sub and the reciever doesn't have wifi or bluetooth.. not a deal breaker but i prefer something with those and 95 + watts per channel (8 ohms THD

I can understand wanting a bigger sub, but speakers are like subs, too. You can typically get better performance out of bigger driver speakers, particularly if you are worried about volume. Bigger driver speakers will produce better midbass, whereas small satellites have to rely on a sub for all of that.

Here are two subs to consider:

The Cambridge Audio speakers are also an excellent value: http://www.accessories4less.com/index.php?page=search&search_query=cambridge+audio&x=0&y=0

The Cambridge S30 speakers, with the Mordaunt Aviano 7 sub, mated with the Denon E400 >

will be a better performing option, over the Denon/Focal combo.

That's a very nice receiver. But you should buy a $300 to $400 receiver instead and put your money towards better speakers/sub. That will give you the best bang for your buck in sound quality.

If you want some good small speakers, take a look at the NHT Super Zero 2.1 , I own them and they are fantastic. Great detail and they image very well. Output won't be as high as a bigger speaker, but they will sound much much better than those Klipsch Quintets or the Bose anything.

What about this package:
http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-System-Onkyo-TX-NR626-7-2-Ch-BIC-Acoustech/dp/B00DUFJWA6/ref=sr_1_9?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1394024501&sr=1-9&keywords=klipsch+quintet

NR626 looks good with all features.. only thing missing is airplay but iam not concerned about it.. will use it more for movies than anything else ..

I much prefer my recommendation in post #2

Also NHT is a nice option

Decent receiver, decent subwoofer, horrible speakers.

The Denon with the focal 5.1 speakers is a better buy. Plus that receiver has airplay

You could go with a recevier from Sony with the STR-DN840 it has wifi, bluetooth, and airplay. then the rest of the money on speakers

What do you guys think about http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/kefkht1505gb/kef-kht1505-compact-5.1-system-w/2-pairs-of-stands-included/1.html

Stay away from speakers that have only 2" drivers (lol).

IF i go with NHT , is it better to go with complete NHT package of 5 speakers and sub or is it better to match them with some other sub and a seperate center speaker?

It's important that your front three speakers timbre match for a smooth front soundstage. This means buying speakers from the same make/manufacturer, and often from the same make/model line. So yes. Get all of your front three speakers from NHT.

As for the sub, there is not audio quality reason to match the sub brand with the speaker brand. NHT subs are not bad at all, but you can probably do a little better for the money elsewhere.

what about this?

Yes. Those speakers should be better than the other Kefs. But I would want a bigger sub for an HT/game room. For $800, I would buy Pioneer Andrew Jones speakers and then an NXG NX-BAS-500 . See this review of the Pioneer speakers: http://www.audioholics.com/tower-speaker-reviews/pioneer-sp-pk52fs

I have an open room so i was hoping to get something to mount to the walls .. so i am not keen on tower speakers , its for my game room area which is16X19 with walls on 3 sides but completely open on the fourth side, so i was hoping to get something good but mountable :)

Any ideas on Definitive Technology ProCinema 600 ?

Sorry. I forgot.

I like the NHTs that were already mentioned. You could grab five of the Super Zeros. Do you have room to use one vertically as the center? That's optimal--to have the front three speakers EXACTLY the same
