I am using the pass through function of the HV20 to transfer some (about 12) Fuji MiniDV format tapes to my computer.

I have only been using Panny AMQ miniDV tapes in my Hv20 for recording in HD so far.

Does anyone think that I would need to clean the heads after this brand switching?

Again, just 12-15 tapes will be transferred, and I will go back to using the Panny tapes.

Would appreciate any feedback on that.

If you were using the "pass through" function of the HV20 you wouldn't be playing ANY tape in the HV20. Since you are playing the Fuji MiniDV tapes in the HV20 that normally only runs Panasonic tapes, that is a matter of opinion. A few years ago I would say that it probably would be a good idea to use a cleaning tape before switching brands. These days, I think that may be a wasted operation. I think the manufactures have gotten together and standardized their lubricants now? But if you want to sacrifice a little head life for peace of mind, go ahead. It's not a big deal, either way.
