I think you hit the nail on the head when you said "$1000" Are you expecting to purchase a top of the line television in 32" LCD for $1000? Are you expecting the best possible experience, customer service and support by purchasing the lowest price available? Hopefully not.
Hyundai uses proprietary codes, similar to DIRECTV codes. It sounds like you are trying to program a CABLE company remote to operate your video piece. Perhaps they can be of some assitance in lieu of the video manufacturer?
With regards to the "radio Shack" piece, it is manufactured by Thomson, which is of course, RCA. I doubt RCA would build in anything from an asian rival like Hyundai.
