I want one too, either a monster 2500 or 2600 (both can be had on ebay for much less than MSRP). I don’t expect any improvements in picture or sound nor do I expect it to save my gear if lightning hits it. Honestly I just want it because it is a very nice looking peace of equipment to put in my rack and plug all my gear in to, and I would expect it to be able to stop a minor surge.

the thing is, I have at least eleven grand worth of hi-fi equipment, I just want to feel more safe, if there is such a thing, at the moment everything is pluged into line conditioners power strips by AR, and everything seems fine, I use 2 different outlets, and a whole separate outlet for my 900 watt SVS Subwoofer, thanks again.

People argue about this subject all the time.
OMG, now that was a nice thread, Monster=overpriced, plus I just called my homeowners insurance and all my equipment is covered under my policy, so if a surge takes out any of my components they are covered, thanks again.

the best bang for the buck that includes the best surge protection available (series mode) as well as a 20 amp rating, 12 volt trigger, and sequential on-off is from furman sound

parts express has them for sale here at a great price (they are available at many places online and in places like guitar center)....

The PS-PRO II Power Conditioner/Sequencer is capable of powering up a rack full of equipment in a 3-step delayed sequence. The sequence is reversed for power-down. The sequence can be initiated with either momentary or maintained switches, locally or remotely. A duplex outlet is provided for each delay step. A front panel screwdriver adjustment sets the delay time for the PS-PRO II. The PS-PRO II also features a locking switch with a removable key for maximum security. One or more Furman PS-PRO II’s may be installed in remote locations and operated via low-voltage wiring. The PS-PRO II includes a rear mounted BNC jack which accepts any standard 12V gooseneck lamp for rear rack illumination, as well as a front panel switch which controls the gooseneck’s operation.

-Series Mode Protection (SMP) with extreme voltage shutdown

-Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT) with zero ground contamination

-Six sequenced rear panel outlets (in 3 groups)

-Two switched rear panel outlets, and one front panel switched outlet

-Momentary and Maintained sequencing via rear panel terminal block or front panel switch

-Rear panel BNC connector for optional 12V gooseneck lamp to light rear of rack

-20 amp rating

-Three year limited warranty
cheers!

looks like a nice unit, when I checked the manufacturers specs it shows in a picture of the units rear that it has 8 outlets, but at Partsexpress it states that it has 6, what gives.

Another great option is from Jon Risch

Look under power conditioners...

BTW I have a Monster Power HTS-2600 and there was some improvement in the sound as the noise floor dropped abit. Another thing to consider is that all of these companies WILL fight you if you try and make a claim on their guarantee - I promise. This is especially true of Monster as they will find any reason to not pay you for lightning damage. That said, if you like in Fla. I'd buy the Panamax over the Monster - it does not filter as well but it is a better surge device.

What they tell you over the phone is one thing, what's written in the policy is what counts. Just a thought. (Also see if it's replacement cost reimbursement or depreciated cost..ie actual cash value...that's all after you pay your deductible)
