My buddy sent me this picture of his Plasma TV, I tihnk it is a Pioneer, but not 100%. I don't think it matters. From the looks of it, it looks like something in the panel went bad. Multiple inputs have been tried and nothing changes, so it looks like it is definitly the TV.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

That looks to be a 2006 Panasonic PX60 model.

IIRC, when 1/3rd of the screen is bad from top to bottom like that it's a problem with the D-Board, not the panel itself.

Thanks for the reply. Is this something that can be fixed fairly easily? Where would he go?

It can be fixed but it won't be cheap out of warranty. Tell him to call Panasonic and they can refer him to the nearest authorized service center. The problem is that prices have come down so much on plasmas that he'll likely be able to buy a brand new 720p Panasonic for not much more than the repair cost..

ShopJimmy.com has the D board for $94.95 which is probably worthwhile if you or you're friend is handy and can install it yourselves. Of course this assumes that Randy is correct, but he usually knows what he's talking about.

It's somewhat of a gamble but probably the best chance he has.
