When watching the movie, I get a lot of LFE but the skidoosh scene is bland. No movement is felt.

I have a Klipsch RT-12D.

I get this same let doen during Jericho bomb scene in Ironman.

Should there be low LFE?

Will a HSU ULs 15 have a better low end?

That sounds like you have possible problems with room acoustics causing nulls in the frequency response. Try experimenting with different sub locations in the room or try a different seating location. You also could have a phase problem causing some cancellation in the crossover area. If you have a phase control, you might try adjusting that.

What are your main speakers and what crossover are you using?

As mojo said room acoustic's have alot to do with how your sub will sound. I am learning this myself with my setup. Depending on the size of your room you could have a null around the 20-25hz this scene is reaching. I have one at 20Hz thats about 10db and a 14db null at 45hz ouch! Also if its below the tuning point of your sub you might not get the needed ouput to have that gut wrenching feel. How does it do on the skidoosh scene only a few feet away from the sub? Play with room placement and a test tones cd playing sine waves and taking measurements in various locations. Aside from room placement you could add an additional sub to help level your room response or try out an EQ but not to sure if it would do much good.

Definitely try the move it around approach, or place the sub in your seating area and move yorself around the room to listen for that big bass spot - that's possibly where the sub should go.

Now, unfortunately, the Klipsch may not have the ability to give the big gut wrenching skidoosh that's talked about here. A friend of mine listened to my single and dual Outlaw setup and was impressed. Then he went home and played it on his full Paradigm (12" sub) setup and was hugely disappointed. Even after tuning and fooling around we only got a small fraction of the skidoosh. He's now trying one of my two Outlaws I have for sale (took home last night). The paradigm has good kick, but just doesn't have the authority at depth like some of these online units.

What about movie scenes that have more impact like the cannons in Master and Commander? Does those give you kick?

Now that tends to have a lot of SLAM which gives me jolt on the LFE.1 track JBL 4645. You know that chest feeling sofa vibration sensation concrete floor shaking jolt!

Kentucky Fried Panda chapter 31 is it, I’ve kinder forgotten about since last week. The “Skadoosh” is slow but peaky -6db on the FBQ2496 at 0db. No for gods sakes don’t play it at that level the Kentucky Fried Panda will bugger your sub right up!

Yeah that's right move the sub around the room, thou I would keep it from LCRS leave it to play the LFE.1 track and only the LFE.1 track use another sub for LCRS sub bass extension though a DCX2496 or other. The LFE.1 has few slams now and then and some portions match up with the LCR, you don't want to over taxi the sub with too much low end.

I'll have to do a Kentucky Fried Panda
with spectrumlab in room frequency response seeing its early late afternoon, I'll be buggered if I'm going to play this in the evening.

I should have it posted up on youtube around 7pm UK time.

I don’t think so mate not my type of film.

Edit

This has to kinder wait at the moment I’m washing my joggers and the in-room frequency response will pick up the washing machine unless you what to see domestic washing machine Spectrumlab waterfalls?
I think my washing machine goes below 10Hz see I have 10Hz in my home cinema, now then.

I’ll have to do this in about 106 minutes, plus I’ll wait for the outside traffic to simmer down a bit. In the meantime I’m going to do some Kentucky Fried Panda “Skadoosh” warm-up-tests.

This scene with my LFM-1 plus in MO, gain set at 11:00 and playing it at 0dB on an VSX-03. My room shifts, it's weird the subsonics make your room look like it's moving, you feel it under your feet through the lazyboy and hitting you in the face.

But to tell you the truth M&C SD DVD is the bomb diggity that really displaces you during the canon fire, this scene I don't dare play it at 0dB -10 is plenty. My whole room floor everything is moving your body is just a sponge rattling your eyeballs out.

Cracks me up every time I play M&C I can't imagine what this sounds like in lossless.

It is unclear what exactly you mean in the quote above. Do you mean you have leveled matched your subwoofer to your speakers (using an SPL meter) and that you have to turn up the subwoofer another 10dB in order for it to have impact?

If you have not level matched your subwoofer so it's at least at the same dB level as your mains, do that now and then re-test.

Might be your room.

I've tried my eD A2-300 in 4 rooms and it was only good with 2 of them. Bass nulls everywhere on the other two.

Or stacks of arrays coupled together to produce an ultimate uniform frequency response over the seating area and beyond. But most of us don’t have cinema size rooms to stack subs directly below the centre channel not while a TV is in the way. A video projector screen yes maybe depending on the distance between sub and centre or stage speakers LCR that should be placed at same height level above the sub/subs arrays.

I’ll say small 12” subs with good reasonable frequency response down to 20Hz stacked on top of each other and stacked out on the width over a few feet should produce flat response.

Sub 1 placed to left side on the floor might do some portions of the low end while some parts of the higher end has few nulls. Sub 2/3 beside it or stacked on top might have slightly less on the lower end and the nulls might have been flatted and so on and so.
