I have a difficult room for my TV viewing...what do you think of this unit?

I can't have surround sound speakers all over the place, will this unit do the job? Along with a decent sub, of course...

Just fishing to see if any of you experts have had experience with this model or even just this company in general?

Any and all comments are welcomed...
The MP-4512 works quite well, giving an illusion of surround. Also, it's a fairly robust speaker that can achieve pretty healthy output levels. My suggestion is to buy it out of dealer inventory if you can, instead of ordering it.
I've never heard those, but of the 'all-in-one' speakers I've have heard, they all sounded 'fake' to me. But to each his own.

What others have you heard? Have you heard any of these type of speakers that are only performing the front left, right, and center channels? Such as the following:

Def tech mythos solo
Boston P400
Atlantic Tech FS-4000
Pinnacle QP9
Artison portraits

I need to set one of these on top of a plasma (which is setting away from the wall) because of spacing issues and room configuration. I'd be pairing it with some surrounds and a sub for either 5.1, 6.1, or 7.1.

Question: The MK-4512 is a 5 channel speaker (with 2 surround channels), can you also pair some surrounds with the 4512? Is there any way to have the 4512 ONLY perform the front left, right, center channels (meaning the side speakers would perform left/right functions)? Does that make any sense?

My reservation would be that they recommend a crossover of 120 to 150 Hz. Crossed that high, the sub will be localizable quite often. If you can place your sub directly below your TV/speaker system, this might be OK most of the time. However, it may not work aestetically or acoustically, (in terms of good sub/room placement for flat FR).

They're spec'd to 100 Hz +/-2 dB, so I would think a 100 Hz crossover might work better if sub placement is an issue. Certainly don't go below 100 Hz.

Good luck, and if you get it, let us know how it works out.

I am way too much of an amateur, so that stuff about crossover went zooming right over my head... Could you break it down a little more simpler?

Here's a look at my family room I'm setting up. Its a corner plasma setup and I'm thinking of putting one of these types of speakers on top of the plasma...

Family Room 1
Family Room 2
Family Room 3

I know its not ideal, but I'm trying to make the best out of the situation. So that's why I'm thinking one of the single enclosure speakers, with some surrounds on the sides and rear, and a sub, might work the best.

What is better: a single speaker on top of the plasma doing the front left, right, center (like the mythos solo, p400, pinnacle QP9...and MK if possible); or 3 separate speakers mounted to the plasma (left side, right side, and top) like the Monitor Audio Radius 225's or 250's ?

I'll be 80% tv and movies, 20% music...

Thanks.
