I just purchased a spyder4pro to calibrate my desktop display for photo editing. Datacolor sells an upgrade to allow calibration of HD displays. Do I need the upgrade if I also want to use the spyder to calibrate my panasonic plasma ST50 HDTV? Before you answer, here's the wrinkle to my situation and the reason I'm even asking: I have the ST50 connected to an HTPC, which is the primary device used for viewing content, but I also have cable box that gets used maybe 10-15% of the time.

I suspect that I can calibrate my TV through the HTPC and use the video card output to modulate the calibrated output. I realize that this won't have an effect on the cable box, but maybe there is a way to do this where I adjust the settings of plasma display directly. I'm not trying to be cheap, but why waste $65 if its unnecessary.
