I may be the only owner of a DTC-100 who loves it uncondionally, sorry you are having problems. I must lead a charmed life or something. I have never found anything to complain about, yet it seems every other owner has problems. Maybe my standards are too low....oh well. I'll say it: THANKS RCA.

I own two DCT100s and they are both reliable performers.

I am totally satisfied with them.

Yes, I would love the new advanced menu system but that is a feature and has nothing to do with performance and reliability.

I've never had a problem with my DTC-100, and I no longer use that remote. Now I'm twice as happy.:D :D

the dtc100 is a great unit (definite large bang for buck).

in no way do i miss the advanced program guide.

and it actually has a useful signal strength indicator for dialing

in the rotor on my rooftop antenna.

the last two software versions have been very stable. it has rgb which my monitor likes and all the remote codes have been programmed into

my OFA cinema 7.

i'd still have my second one if my projector could deal with 540p.

(the new version of my projector does 540p just fine, the old version

no soap)

I have the panny 56. Do you get the red & green lines at the top with the dtc 100? But not with the mits?

Another vote for the RCA DTC 100. I have had two since they launched, and have enjoyed excellent service, first in the DC area and now near Atlanta. I have also added two more to our home, so I must be reasonably happy. Regards.

Are you using the RCA VHDC300 VGA to component with your panny? There is a sync problem that only seems to exist with the panny. Try the adapter from Key Digital before you give up on the DTC-100.

Ditto that for the Audio Authority 9A60. It doesn't work with the Panny TV's either. In all fairness to both products, RCA initially didn't sell this to be used with other brands TVs. For all the issues with Panasonic TVs and this box, Panasonic is doing it right. Analog HTDV specifications - SMPTE240M - specifiues trilevel sync on all three component signals. Their TVs are compliant to that spec and won't work on kludged HDTV signals. While I for one am grateful Poineer and other brands will accept non-standard sync signals, the RCA DTC100 is the problem child in this situation.

But saying that I still agree the DTC100 was / is the best value for a HDTV tuner. I'll bet these are the leading model sold.

The DTC works well enough for me too.

I've only bought it for OTA only, so it still has the old 374 firmware. At least I have no worries about upgrades frying it, and the DirecTV tuner can rot in hell as long as the ATSC standard isn't going anywhere.

I know I spent $650 for mine way back then, but it's one of the most worthwhile purchases I've ever made.

ya the thing had all sorts of problems and as far as it being the best value id disagree.. but then again as far as public yes it could be the best deal

i paid 20 dollars more for the mitisi hd400 :D heheheheheh so now i have two of the mistis and cant be happier

then just the lowest end rca receivers on the normal tvs until i buy a 30in wide screen panny for the computer room then ill get another mitsi :D

hi guys; just bought a few of the brand new version, if there is such a thing , latest dtc-100, as in recently built , not last years build date ....seems to perform flawlessly , as in better then the toshiba or sony that i tried...pic's are vibrant and flawless, and it came already loaded with the new 5.01 software , and the fan noise is non-existant ...maybe the electronics inside are better, maybe not ! i hate losing all the locals from the old firmware update but , thats life . it offers almost all switching functions, full video , and HDTV control from the remote w the new software. Tuner seems to work excellant and is sensitive , and it picks up all the remapping functions of my local off-air channels here in Boston. On directv , and the local HDTV off-air stuff , i have no complaints; this model , or at least this new version maybe the last production run or final version of this product , seems to invoke excellant pictures, as good as or better than both my hi-end hughes and sony stb's on directv channels . i am impressed.....this is a current rca product.

i have heard that they are coming out with an even newer version to be released sometime in jan/feb 2002 at the big electronics show , but probably wont be available in stores till may or june 2002 . I KNOW rca is noted for low end junk , but i'll tell ya , maybe except for the new ZENITH stb , which all the techno guys are buying up , this rca far surpasses , the equiv. hughes, mitsu, toshiba and sony unit ....and i'm not an rca fan !

......heres the other gig on this . circuit city and a bunch of other retailers have these , and they ARE NOT discontinued product , at least not yet anyway. i found these rca units at very very reasonable prices at American TV in Ill & Wisc.....a very nice mgr there , who is a friend of a friend , is selling these boxed units at i think 399....and check this out , he is SELLING NEW UNBOXED UNITS AT UNDER $300...thats a bargain in a half!!...call him , at 608 271-1000 ,and ask for mike smith ...he may also have unboxed mitsu's and toshiba's too ...just call him and work ur best deal , as he is the video manager . i didnt opt for the toshiba nor the misu , because i found them no better , and in some instances less desirable the the rca dtc-100....picture was definitely not any better , and operating functions were noticebly slower ....so , then whats the sense of spending more to get less!!!!....... give him a call , he may have something you want ; just mention to him that Billy C from Boston told you to call !!!!

it may or may not get you a better deal , but at least he'll know you'r a buyer , not a stroker !!! good luck

PS....at under $300 for an un-boxed DTC-100, that is way below normal dealer cost !!

I guess this post about American Electronics must be posted multiple places, they do not have any good deals right now on DTC-100's, so don't waste your time. He said 3 or 4 weeks at least and then he might only get one here or there.

Have better luck at your local BB probably.
