...and beaten more than old slavery days but. I just got my Sammy PN50B560 mounted up on it's stand, going to ground my wall outlet in a little [I'm sure you all would highly suggest having a grounded outlet to hook this thing up to] - and from there I'm going to begin running the slides that were posted in D-Nice's 12G Panasonic thread. Now, I just need to know what 'mode'/calibration I should have set while running these images [prepares to get beaten like the marijuana legality] [Since there is no Vivid mode like on the Panny]. I took some pictures of the manual to show what exactly my TV does as far as tweaking.

Also, I was reading through the manual and noticed the Pixel Shift feature on the TV. I searched pixel shift in the search function of this forum and couldn't come up with anything. Well it says it shifts the pixels every 2 minutes, or whatever you set it to, vertically or horizontally - now when this is set and it 'shifts the pixels' do you see this happen on the TV at all? Because in a gaming session this wouldn't be too cool. Last question guys! The 'Side Gray' feature for 4:3 broadcasting - is this trustable or should I just have my TV stretch the broadcasting?

Why are you going to run slides designed for a Panasonic on a Samsung?

I figured they'd be fine and work the exact same way, all they are is colored pictures so what would be the difference? If there's a correct Samsung break-in can somebody post it then?

And it's not an LCD, haha, it's a DLP I believe? It was the whole reason I ended up buying this Sammy. It was given to me from a family pass, but didn't really do me any justice at all - even though I was coming off a 27" standard def. TV. It's an 02 HD so it really isn't anything good, the picture quality is really bad - so I bought this Sammy.

I wouldn't use the Panny settings, there are plenty of threads here on Sammy settings. Panasonic? Who would want their set to look like a Panasonic, all washed out and dull, but with awesome blacks... Give me a break.

Long feud here, enjoy your set.

Isn't he just talking about generic slides used for the break-in period? He's not talking about the panny picture settings. If so, it doesn't matter what TV he's using.

As for "seeing" the pixel shift, you're talking about 1 pixel at a time of 1,920 or 1,080. I don't think you will perceive it, even in a game.

Yeah I was just talking about the generic slides, but didn't know if any settings should be tweaked or just leave all factory settings while running the break-in images. Anyone know?

And does the pixel shift even really work? It just seems like one pixel shifting every two minutes would do absolutely nothing.

Anybody with any 'Side Gray' feature experience?

Vivid is just what Panasonic calls their "melt your eyes" bright mode. It seems from those fuzzy pictures that Dynamic is that sort of mode. The break-in slides are run with the tv on as full and as bright as it can, to work the gasses in the panel. Use Dynamic. Make sure it fills the entire screen. Just be sure to change setting when you watch something else!

Hmm, another member said to not use Dynamic while running them - and that some prefer to crank their brightness and cell light but he didn't think that was necessary. So I just flipped it on it's stock Movie Mode. Using the pictures that were in the Panny thread, they fill the screen perfectly.

Thanks.

Is it normal to see like 'noise' on the darker images in this break-in slides process?

Also, I found a dead pixel on the bottom left of my screen - it shows up on every color but the blue slide. That is a dead pixel right?

for 4:3 set your cable box to 480i. that should fill the screen.

Is there any reason you're not going with the new Panasonics like the G10? I'm asking because I ditched my Samsung for a Panasonic and now I see what a great plasma is supposed to be like. Quiet as a library, beautiful colors and to my amazement when I first got it..no burn in. I threw a game on there just to see for an hr and no ****ing burn in. Also the burn in feature works great, alot better than the Samsung. I'm saying this because maybe it's not too late for you to return it and get a G10. You won't have any issues with the Panasonic and no worries unless you over do it. I don't game much but there's alot of channels with tickers (ESPN) and logos and they don't get burnt in.

I actually was facing off between the Samsung I bought and the 50" G10 - I had 'em side by side and I just liked the Samsung a little more. The two can't be a huge difference as far as reliability goes, they have to be pretty even.
