I just bought a new 7.1 setup. I have no receiver yet, nor any quality dvd player or cd player. I have an xbox but it turns out it's just interlaced while I thought it was progressive. At least that's what someone just told me in another thread.
Anyway, I also just bought an hs10 projector. I have read that HTPC gives the best dvd picture and that's what I want. However, I also want the best sound for my movies and my speakers. So what does htpc have for me here? What products are considered a *must* for superior quality audio out of an htpc used for dvds? What about for 2 channel music listening?
Am I losing out on quality sound by trying to use the htpc for gaming, dvd, 2 channel audio, etc...? Also, what gives on the sacd/dvd-a front w/ computers? Any new or almost-released cards I need to be aware of?
I thought of buying a dvd player for quick play b/c my projetor will be here monday, but the $400 or so bucks would easily help w/ my HTPC purchase instead.
