I would like to go with obviously, a dark color scheme, but I don't want the red in it, as I want something a little different and I am not a fan of it.

I know I would like to incorporate black. I will have a trayed ceiling and i would like to know some good colors that are dark and go well with the black.

I will have

-carpet

-lower wall (under chair rail)

-upper wall (above chair rail)

-lower ceiling

-upper ceiling

-acoustic panels placed on the upper wall

-decorative columns made of oak that I would like to stain a color that goes well with everything else. they will be spaced every 4 ft out running from floor to ceiling.

I know I like black carpet with grey designs in it, charcoal walls, with a redish cherry stain for all of the trim and the decorative columns, but what would go good color wise for the acoustical panels? I want to give the room some color but not bright color....

thanks

Blue is an excellent pairing with black, a dark hunter green would work, and actually the newer darker browns would also work.

You do see a lot of red paired with black just for the simple reason that they work well together and it is a classic look. Red also fades pretty quickly in the low light of a theater.

Also as you have stated charcoal or dark gray would also work.

I would vote going with a dark blue. Just my .02 FWIW.

If you are doing a red/cherry stain on trim + columns you should be going with something for the panels that will compliment...sorry RT, but I don't agree with blue for that. You don't have to do bright red though, you could use an earth tone, or check out some of the burgandy/wine etc. colors. You might be pleased with that.
