I have black bars with my xbox and ps2 on the side. IM not sure if its due to component cables or i set my gaming to a 16:9 ratio. The thing is my Tv is a 42inch widescreen. so im not sure why that happens. Also when i play i try to set my game to 16:9 in certain games that have that "game option to do so"

is your xbox set to 16:9 cause it will send out a signal telling the television what the aspect ratio is. i don't know if the playstation supports auto aspect

Xbox doesn't even support auto-aspect. At least not in 480p mode.

I'm having the same results with my BenQ 8700+ (BNC Plug). For some reasons, this is happening in Sega Games (NHL 2K5, Panzer Dragoon, Etc).


Is there a way to know if a game support 16x9 or I always have to check hdtvgaming.com list?

Perhaps the games aren't filling the entire 16:9 aspect ratio (helps save on processing speed, etc). Somegames definitely fill it up all the way. If the black bars aren't huge, then that could possibly be what is going on.

in 480i it does, he did not mention 480p
