I need to build a screen for my ECP4100... I need around a 1.3 gain or brighter material for it. I was going to order some dazian, and use the 'sheen' side, but as of late there have been many people claiming lots of problems with hotspotting & colorshifting. I've got samples of a bunch of material - Da-lite would be my first choice, however it is out of my price range. I got a sample of I-Weiss "front white" projection material today. It is a white PVC vinyl - they claim a 38.46% gain at 0deg - (Dont know why they use the % gain - I think 1.38 is equivalent). It is bright white material - One side is very smooth, the other side is very finely textured. Has anyone used this stuff on their DIY screen? Did you like it?

It does seem to be somewhat translucent - Is a blackout lining needed behind it?

It also seems to be fairly thin; hope the staples dont rip through it...

Thanks,
