Ok. I researched until my head hurt and was going to get the JVC 461080p or the Sammy. I saw those two and the Sharp and they all looked good, but I thought the sharp looked a little better I was still leaning toward the Sammy, but they were out and my wife was tired (in general, of my researching, maybe of me). Since this store was out, they offerred me the Sharp for $2200, so I bought it. Ii was worn down and couldn't take it anymore.


Now I looked it up and see all these posts about banding.


Should I ignore them and just watch and see if something bothers me, or figure out what banding is, look for it and return the set if it has the issue??


It's going to be a week or so before I get another HD Dish box...I'm using the one I have with my 40" sammy. It seems to have a line on the left side of 4:3 and some image/light delay, but otherwise the set looks good and the saleman told me it was normal for LCD.


And are there calibration settings on this Board for this Sharp set.

I returned a 40" sony because of clouding issues, and I was going to return it for a sammy 4695d, but bestbuy was out of stock, they had the sharp 46" so I got that for the same price....two days later I returned it because bands were annoying. Went to a different best buy and got the 4695d and couldn't be happier

I would stay with the Sharp 46 man..

Very nice set with nice PQ and attractive look...

I think the Sharp is better in SD PQ as well..

Main thing that pushes me to Sharp is the adjustable backlight which Samsung does not have....

Hopefully, I won't have banding and it'll all be fine. Where might I see it? Is it horizontal or vertical? Is it on the sides of the picture in 4:3 or does it also appear in HD 16:9???


I'm not going to scour the set trying to find it, but would like to know whether my set is defective. I have to call Dish and am prob about a week or so away from getting another HD box. Will I see it with SD - Dish digital feed?

I just re-read the cnet review and they said the sharp had banding problems as well. I wonder if rather than unpacking it and waiting, I should have waited for the Sammy or purchased the JVC...hmmm.


Seems like flat panels of all sorts are still immature in their evolutions and not bug free.
