Bear with me here. I am looking at a Sony Plasma TV. The TV has a built in NTSC tuner. What does this mean? Does this mean I can recieve HDTV OTA broadcasts without an antenna? Or can I recieve HD & regular DirecTV broadcasts without an external HD tuner (since I am a DirecTV subscriber)? Sorry for the stupid queestion.

Standard Definition TV (SD-TV) is braodcast in the us via the NTSC standard. It is an analog signal. High Definition TV (HDTV) is braodcast in the US via the ATSC standard. It is a digital signal. For either one you will need some kind of antenna and a receiver capable of 'decoding' the signal.

The Sony plasma screen you're looking at will only get standard definition TV.

Like they said for NTSC.

You need a DirectTV receiver for satellite. There's nothing built into the plasma. If you want HD, you need an HD STB, like the Sony HD-200. To watch it, you would connect it to the plasma with component cables or DVI, if the Sony plasma accepts DVI.
