Hi all,

with today's icestorm in Dallas, I have accumulated a sheet of ice on my dish, especially on my LNB's, depriving me of all signal. What is the best ( and easiest ) way to remove this ice? The dish is mounted on the side of my house about 15 feet up. I was hoping temperature would rise and take care of it, but doesn't look like it is. I don't want to miss 24 tonight!!

I know hot water is not a good idea, any other ideas?

Next year, I'm buying a dish heater

Thanks in advance

John

Be careful with the ladder and hand thaw. Jack would be proud.

Yep, a ladder and a blow-dryer (on low) will do the trick.

That storm was a duzy, so I doubt there is anything you could have done to prevent it. A little advice though from a Minnesota guy who deals with freezing weather a good portion of the year, spray the dish with Pam non-stick cooking spray. It helps.
