If you had the choice of using identical 2-way speakers for LCR, or 2-way L/R and a 3-way center from the same series, which would you use? Specifically Paradigm Signature S1 or S1/C1 (or C3). I'm just wondering if that separate mid-range would be better for dialogue.

Biggest thing is you want wide horizontal dispersion for the center channel. A 2 way center could work if it's vertical and pointed directly at the listeners ears. If this isn't possible (you have to place it horizontally in a TV stand, for example) then hands down get a 3 way design.

The goal is a seamless, single, front sound stage created by three speakers. In which case three identical speakers is your best bet :)
