I have about 150 hours on my PJ now and just recently, and suddenly (overnight), my 5700 seems to have lost its punchy picture. Its not bright and stand outish like it always has been. I've always used the default low power setting for the lamp and that has been more than enough, but all of a sudden, everything looks darker. Like I said, the picture has lost all of its punch. I've tried going through all my movies to make sure, but its the same for all of them. Is something wrong with my bulb or is something else wrong that you can think of? I was just going to buy a new bulb even though there is only 150 hours on this one, but I found out they were $495 instead of the $200 I was thinking of. So what can i do to resolve this problem? Thanks~

Check all your settings. Maybe gamma, brightness or something else was accidentally changed. With 150 hours, your bulb should be under warranty?

This could be a signal of a lamp going bad I would have your projector serviced as the lamp is likely the effect not a cause.

(but to be sure hit factory defaults to make sure nobody sat on your remote)

If they replace a lamp out of warranty - then you will be buying a lamp because you are out 90d.

If they find something else in the projector causing it - you have a 2yr warranty - I am assuming you bought from an authorized local ScreenPlay dealer - Infocus has the right to refuse warranty work otherwise.

They quote 10 business days turnaround - if they exceed that they will usually give you other options.

If you do not have a warranty - the average optical engine repair is about $1200.

PExeter - 150 bulb hours in 8 months, and you average less than 1 post per day on this forum. What are you doing with all your time.

Work must be getting in the way...

I just had my 5700 sent in a couple weeks ago due to a "Replace Lamp" message coming on the screen and some strange flickering. I only had about 60 hours on it. They (IF) just wanted to send me a new bulb and have me change that out, but I knew better and told them i was sending it in. After about 15 biz days, I finally was told that they needed to wait on some board to fix it. I wasn't too happy and the guy sensed this, so he told me to wait a few minutes and he came back on to tell me they were sending me a "like new" refurb with 2 year warranty out the next day.

Well, the only problem i have besides being out of the 90 day warranty is that I need my pj next weekend for a big 50th anniversy deal. Figures something would happen to my 5700 right now. But i just bought a new lamp from IF, $560 with tax, OUCH. I did also write them an email explaining my situation so hopefully they will opt to do something for me, becuase I should have to spend almost 600 on a new lamp when mine only has 150 on it. Its times like these when you really test customer service!

OH, btw, you were saying something about an optical engine repair. Is that something that could be damaged? Well, i guess we will find out when i put in the new lamp in a day or two. And i am amazed that I only have 150 hours in that amount of time, but I was always stressing about using up the lamp to avoid buying a new lamp, but i guess that dont matter now. Thanks for your help!

I always use the phone in these circumstances,

it's amazing how much more you can get done this way.

I had a replace bulb message on my machine around 90 hours. I called and a while back there was bulb problems. Infocus sent me a new bulb for free as long as I sent back the old one. It is worth asking them. By the way, this was several months ago and the projector is working great again. No issues (knock on computer wood)!!
