If not, and it will be able to still receive HD without downrezzing, then it appears we should buy HDTV with receiver already incorporated. OR as usual I am probably missing something with these discussions on what the DVI does. Anyone know?

The satellite receiver built into the HDTV would have to have 5C decryption built into it to receive 5C encrypted HDTV over the satellite. The specifications of the HDTV will say if it has 5C built into it. If it does not say it has it, it probably does not have the capability to decrypt 5C and show encrypted HDTV video.

DVI is an encrypted, uncompressed (high data rate) connection that may be used by some equipment. Remember the only source of HDTV will not be from just OTA or satellite. We will also have Internet, DVD, tape, and computers connected to the set.

Most of these sets will compressed over a Firewire connection. The HDTV will need Firewire input if it wants to be able to connect to more than just a built in tuner. DVI has such limited usefulness that it may or may not be important to also have this input.
