The 777 seems like its a few years old but I have heard great reviews. Is it still better than the newer Sony recievers. I am more interested in sound quality than bells and whistles, and I am only going to use this for an HT setup in my den with an LCD projector and screen. I'll be using it with the SAVE835ED speakers.


Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

I personall own the Sony TA-E9000ES Pre Amp which I love.


The STRDA777ES is reported to be basically a TA-E9000ES Pre Amp and TA-N9000ES Power Amp in the one box.

I noticed the STR-DA4ES was not on your list. However, this is also another of their very good "ES" receivers.
