I'll tell you what. If they Region free the HD players, i'd personaly grab another 2 players. I love my XA2, but seeing as I can't play my Pal disks, i'm holding off. I know of a few friends also in the same boat.
It would be a step in the right direction thats for sure.

Region free doesn't matter for people who live in the U.S as most of the DVDs originate from U.S. However it's required for people in the rest of the world.

Illegal depends on the Country you are in and I guess if feel you need to profit from it then fine.
Almost all the hacks that people release are for the pure enjoyment of the accomplishment, not for the money.
Also for having a good feeling of letting others enjoy your work.

Sounds like "Collector-scum" behavior - the kind of people who want to bask in the selfish joy of being the only one to own something. I run across them quite a bit - they'll have some rare demo disc or video brochure and won't make a copy for trade because they want to be the only one to have it. But they'll tell you about it - so they can have have their small-minded moment of thinking "I'm so cool, I'm the only one who has this!"
It seems that is what HDXA1USER is doing.
