Hi-

I bought a Toshiba CW34X92 HDTV upgradable set earlier this year, and I'm delighted with its performance with regular analog cable and DVD.

I don't foresee us subscribing to a satellite service, but I'd like to be able to receive the regular over-the-air HDTV signals broadcast from Philadelphia, just about 15 miles away.

I know I'd need an STB and an antenna. Would I be able to set the TV up to receive regular cable (as it is now) and HDTV over-the-air broadcasts when I want to select them? And what STBs whould I look at?

Thanks.

Philipi, you ignorant Newbie!

Sorry, couldn't resist - that was a feable attempt at humor!

Your TV has multiple video sources. Yes, you will be able to get both cable and over the air HD through a STB. You just change the source from video 1 to Video 2 or whatever your set uses to go from one to the other. I am not aware of any STB that combines over the air and cable though. You migh consider checking the classifeds here to find a STB at a reasonable price.
