I have a TX-NR808 receiver, and the big plan is to someday buy two very nice front speakers and have a 5.1 or 7.1 surround system with HT passthrough and a tube amp, etc.

But today is not that day. I just need a quick and simple 5.1 set of speakers that I can buy on amazon and just get up and running with.

Only requirements are that this 5.1 set can be driven by the TX-NR808 (which is actually 7.1) and that later I can use this same set in conjunction with a really nice set of fronts for the 2.1 HT passthru side of things.

$250 or so ? Like I said, just point the way and I'll "one click" it my way ASAP.

Thanks.

With any of those systems, when you're ready to get larger speakers and move to 7.1 you'll also need to replace the center channel. You wont want a small satellite center with very nice tower or bookshelf speakers up front. The small center wont be able to keep up or will be overwhelmed by the larger front speakers.

You'll be able to use the 4 satellites as surrounds though when you upgrade.
