Image retention on Philips 42PF7320

Just recently purchased a Philips 42PF7320, and have been running my settings in "ECO" mode, which turns the brightness and contrast way down - still watchable picture, but dim. Even in ECO setting, I get image retention when watching MSNBC or any news channel with high brightness bugs/tickers. 10 minutes is enough to make it noticable image retention. MSNBC logo and Nancy Grace could be clearly seen after 10 minutes. They interviewed her and her name was on screen for the 10 minutes, when they switched to a different person during the segment, I could still see Nancy Grace's name in the background

I switched to a movie channel with no stinking bugs for an hour, and Nancy Grace's name was gone along with the MSNBC logo :D

After noticing the image retention, I decided to hook up the Xbox and turn the brighness & contrast to normal levels, and played Burnout Revenge for around an hour. After checking for image retention with the built in multimedia USB port, and played .jpg's with pure colors, and different grey/black images. No image retention what-so-ever. Played MX vs. ATV (720p game!!) for more than an hour, and still no image retention.

I've got around 100 hours on the plasma running ECO mode and very little watching channels with high brightness bugs/tickers.

Do you guys notice image retention from bugs/tickers on your plasmas?

During your breakin in period which should last a minimum of 100 hours the panel should have the brightness and contrast reduced. This is what is generally recommended. You dont need the ECO mode try the personal setting . It is also recommended that you limit viewing of any static images during this period. This includes news tickers. After this period you can slowly increase the percentage of time you view these types of images. Some will say you dont need a breakin period, however I own a Philips plasma 9630a and I followed the breakin thread advise. After six months I have no image retention or burnin :) .
I've been breaking in the plasma as perscribed. Hard these days to find a cable source that doesn't have logos/bugs. The ECO setting is nice, because it's preset with low contrast and brightness levels - a couple remote clicks and its in break in mode.
