I need to purchase two in-ceiling speakers for my main living room area. These are going to be used for entertaining, radio, listening to the game and music listening only (no home theatre / surround sound stuff). What would you all recommend for this sort of setup? I love Klipsch speakers since my set of bookshelf speakers are excellent (but not part of this install) so I am looking at those.


Where I am struggling on the decision is:


- Do I need directional speakers?

- How should I mount/direct them in the room?

- Any particular price range or models I should consider?

What is your budget?


If you like Klipsch, you can certainly go that route. I would tend to think you would not need directional speakers, but you may still want a speaker that has a pivoting tweeter in case you do want to adjust it based on where you typically sit. The BG Radia speakers would be my recommendation for music as their ribbon folded tweeters sound very natural and clear.


But Klipsch is certainly not a bad choice, and if you like the brand and horn loaded tweeters, you may prefer that.

I have the BG Radia speakers that ACK_BK linked to in their post above. They are used only for music and have directional tweeters as well. I'm extremely happy with them, especially for the price

. They sound excellent throughout their full range of frequencies and have not had any trouble handling the volume output from an Onkyo 8050 stereo receiver. I do not have a sub hooked up and I'm not planning on it as they are fine for music only. That being said, a sub would be a nice complement as well.
