I am doing 6 in ceiling speakers throughout my basement for music and over head sound for games, fight, etc. I am going to run these from my receiver in my Home theater closet. I was wondering if there is a way to daisy chain these together or do I have to buy something like this

and then run each speaker individual.

Also, are these good for controlling the sound and how exactly do they work?

Thanks.

the little 6 speaker switch will work, it includes circuitry to protect the amplifier from any combination of speakers going below 4 ohms.

the volume control is an L-Pad that controls the volume of two attached stereo pair speakers.

you would run 4 conductor wire from the speaker selector switch to the volume control, then 2 conductor wire from the volume control to each attached speaker.

Use 4 conductor wire from the selector switch back to the a/v receiver's Zone B outputs

Only 70v speakers can be daisy chained if they are run in parallel.  However 70v speaker systems are not used in residential settings, they are commonly used for commercial systems, or PA systems.    In your case if you are using 8 ohm speakers, you will not be able to daisy chain, each speaker will require it's own home run.
