I am in the process of building a house. it will be a ranch style, and I want to do in ceiling speakers in every room. I need a backer box due to new energy code here in MN. I'm debating either the $8 backkbox like here https://www.discounthomeautomation.com/BackBoxx-Speaker-Insulation-PPBBX1 or may build my own out of pine...
I do have a pair of Klipsch KHO-7 speakers I've used in teh garage for years, and I really like the sound of those. Does anyone know if there is an in ceiling speaker that would sound similar? I assume it would be klipsch, but wasn't sure about series. I would like to keep it at $100 per speaker or under if possible.
on a side note, the backkbox I listed above shows its 3.5" deep. they have another one that is around 10" deep, but I wonder, do I need to worry about heat loss? If my insulation in the attic is say 15" deep (not sure how deep it really will be) then the areas of speakers would only have 1/3rd of the insulation... is that bad? how do I compensate?
