All, I purchased a home in July that was wired for sound. The speakers in the BR stopped working recently. I have played with the connections to the receiver and everything seems to be working properly there. Is there a way to test whether the signal is reaching my speakers to determine if the problem is my speaker or the wire? Thanks.

once you get the grill off, most in-ceiling speakers come out very easily, a few screws. I would just pull down a speaker, plug it directly into the amplifier with a working known wire and that should tell you everything you need to know.

Thanks. I have the grill off. The wires are affixed to the edges of the speaker. Not the normal plug-ins that I am used to. Do I have to desolder them?
