My house is being constructed and I want to take advantage of adding in ceiling speakers.

I was wondering If I have 5 ceiling speakers with the right placement and sub would it sound good as a 5.1?
I put a really nice sounding all in-ceiling (except for the sub) in my cousin's house. Monoprice has some very good sounding in-ceiling speakers for not a lot of money. They have an "aim-able" center that tilts into the ceiling so you can aim it at the seating position. I was very skeptical of an in-ceiling system, but he said it was his only option. I was really blown away by how good it sounded.

GoldenEar

I have recently gotten some GoldenEar Invisa in wall/ceiling speakers. They are pretty amazing. I got a 5.1 system for upstairs and a 9.4.2 system for the theater area downstairs. If you do in ceiling, it's really smart to get the angled versions for the front speakers (mentioned above) so they aim at the listening position. If interested in more info, I have a knowledgeable source with nice pricing. You can PM me if interested.
Good Luck

Thanks everyone! I’ll check out mono price.

Recommend any other brands and models?

Really depends on your budget. There are a lot of options out there....

Budget is around $1000
So, just a pair of possible scenarios:

RSL C34E x 5 @ $125.00ea + RSL Speedwoofer 10S @ $399.00 = $1024.00 + free shipping

Monoprice Caliber 6.5" x 5 @ $125.00ea + Monolith 10THX Sub @ $500.00 = $1125.00 + free shipping

Some other subs to consider that will land you in similar budget range:

Depending on how much space you have, how large the space is, your listening preferences/content, and if you can stretch the budget, I'd really consider bumping up that subwoofer to at least a 12", look at SVS, Hsu Research, Rhythmik - pushing into the $500 - $700 range. Subwoofers really do make a home theater if you're into that kind of performance. Tell us a little bit more about your space and preferences, and we can help you dial in a good subwoofer choice vs. speakers at your price point. You could always scale back on the speakers, and put more into the subwoofer, and while inexpensive speakers can be pretty good, just don't go too cheap!!

I'm sure you'll get some good recommendations from other members.

After doing more Research, I think I’m going to use my ceiling speakers for atmos.

If I go with Klipsch or Hsu speakers will it matter what kind of speakers I get for the ceiling as long as they are quality?

Wait, so are you ditching the original 5.1 in-ceiling plan for an actual Atmos implementation plan - two separate layers of speakers, low and high?

Yes sir. 5.2.4

Gotcha! In that case...

Depends on one's philosophy. Many argue that the Atmos speakers matter the least, and there is not so much worry about precisely matching them. (Which is often not possible or feasible). Others argue that it does matter, and your best off to match every speaker within the system. I'm a proponent of the later (though my own system is not matched in such a way). If you can, do it! If you can't for whatever reason, look to a speaker that has similar performance characteristics and a similar tweeter design as a guideline, not an absolute. If you're not overly picky, it won't matter that much at all. The Klipsch speakers you mentioned earlier would be fine.
