Hello all i have 2 units, a 5040 and a 5060.... have both conencted through a belkin router both using cat-5 (ethernet cable)

anyways, i routineley try to watch shows on a replay which were recorded on my second unit....

sometimes the units seem to "lost track" of each other, apparently reporting that the other unit is "offline" i can do a 243 zones command and use option #17 to find the unti and while this works it is a serious pain in the butt to do so after i watch everyshow.....

why do they lose track of each other?

i can ping the units bot from my pc when this happens so the unit is really not "offline"

also this happens both ways

i.e. unit 2 cant always see unit 1, and unit 1 cant always see unit 2

I have the same problem that occurs now and then. I'm not sure what is causing it, but I fix it by resetting the Replay that can't see the other one. Hope this helps.
sorry problem comes back after a reset.... i am beginign to think my router is to blame..... somehow.....

This sounds like it may be the result of the DHCP bug. Search for more info. Basically, instead of assigning your ReplayTV a static IP, use your router to reserve a specific DHCP IP for its MAC address. This will accomplish much the same thing as a static IP and isn't prone to the DHCP bug. Alternatively, if your router doesn't support DHCP reservation (most Linksys routers don't), then increase the router's DHCP lease time to 14400 minutes.

It sounds like you have the same router as me. It's an F5D5230-4. I find that the router occasionally 'loses' it's settings. No rhyme or reason to it, it just flakes out. Luckily it hasn't been a *constant* problem, but annoying.

On a positive note, it *does* support loop-back. I found this out when I got my second replay.
