I am putting in an in-wall center channel speaker. Granted I am new to this, but have not found a definitve thread on how detrimental (if at all) it is to mount the center channel vertically rather than horizontally.

I purchased the center channel in wall speaker from Monoprice: monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=108&cp_id=10837&cs_id=1083704&p_id=4930&seq=1&format=3#specification (sorry can't post the full URL since I am still too new to the forums (3 pt policy))

I can mount it roughtly at ear level (or just below) in either a horizontal or vertical orientation. (approx same height as the L&R fronts)

I've always assumed these were built to mount horizontally, but the placement of my screen makes me prefer to mount vertically so the speaker is more easily centered (due to a wall stud being in the way if trying to mount horizontally.

So to summarize...is it better to mount this speaker horizontally but a few inches off center or mount vertically and centered exactly?

Primary viewing distance will be about 9-10 ft.

Thanks for any suggestions...

If you can place the speakers vertical, why not just use three of the exact same speakers in a vertical orientation? That way you have an exact match for your front stage.
