I'm in the process of choosing speakers for my 5.1 surround system for my soon to be finished basement. it's a large open space (approximately 30 x 20) with high ceilings (8ft+). I'm looking for a solid performing in wall speaker for mostly television watching, with occasional music. In terms of budget, I'd like to keep it to about $100 a speaker. In researching, I've come across the following options for my front left and front right speakers, and I was hoping to gather some feedback to help me make my decision:

• BIC HT8W
• Polk RC85i
• Yamaha NS-IW660

Any feedback on these options would be greatly appreciated....and I'd be open to other suggestions as well.


My thinking is that whichever brand I'd select, I'd likely stay in that same speaker family to purchase the rear ceiling speakers too.

What did you end up going with, and how do they sound? I am considering in-wall vs standard and would be interested in your experience.

I went with the polks and I'm 100% satisfied. They've been great for my purpose.
