The future of Linux is on your TV.

This is the Indrema entertainment system. A revolutionary product built on a revolutionary operating system, Linux. Just turn it on, and sit back on your couch. This is no desktop Linux system, this is Linux for TV, for game addicts, for total entertainment. Out of the box, you can hook it up and begin playing unbelievably realistic 3D games, browsing the Net at high speed, or just enjoying personal TV or MP3 favorites. Put one in your living room, den, or your kids bedroom. The price of the L600 system is not yet disclosed, but it will be very affordable. We want everyone to be able to have one. A 600 MHz, 100 Mbs door to the Internet for high-performance Linux games, MP3 storage/playback and more, ideal for DSL and cable modem users. Use the optional wireless keyboard for comfort and relax, the wonderful world of Linux just got a little better. It's going to change your life, and perhaps your neighbors. Try it today, and join the revolution.

I thought it was funny how many times Linux was mentioned. If you have to interface with this device via Linux then it is not very revolutionary. The OS should be irrelevent and hidden in a truely revolutionary device.

I also liked the line A 600 MHz, 100 Mbs door to the Internet .

How cool, well it WILL be when its available. Looks like an open source X-box competitor? I bet you X-box morphs to doing DVD-R and PVR before it's released.

I hate to tell you but I am doing most of those features RIGHT NOW!!!!!

This morning I was watching TV on my "xxx" device, pressed pause, browsed the net for a while. Jumped back to the TV did an instant replay, pressed pause, pulled up a channel guide, setup a record then decided to play an MP3. All on a machine that can play a mean game of Quake Arena! This "xxx" box is controllable via a keybord/mouse or IR remote. I can also send it email to tell it to record something and with a little more work will have complete network access to the PVR!!!!

So what is my "xxx" box? It's a Linux machine with a ReplayTV hooked up to it!!!!!! I use a ATI all-in-wonder card, customized GATOS TV viewing software, a IRman for IR in, a RedRat for IR out, apache web server and

a my own software PVR remote control program!!! It's a perfect combo and opens the door to all sorts of things not possible before! Imagine:

Real Time Web server interface to your PVR!

Send email to your PVR

Favorite channels by day/time

Categorized channels

Power on the fly surf lists

Unlimited stored search criteria

A real keyboard to enter search criteria

Unlimited macros

Visual program time bar, clicking on it sends Jumpto command!

Mixing web browsing and TV in same context

Supporting multiple interactive TV streams

...

Here today, right now, .... Why wait? Here is a snapshot:
