Yep, it's me again - still bitching about Relay's lack of Channel Guide updates and frequency. As of Sat. night I was waiting for a few Channel Guide updates via TMS since there was quite a few changes lately to some shows I watch. This morning TiVo behaved perfectly. Replay? Ha! Let's see:

a) The World Series is over. Been done since Thursday night. TiVo is showing the regular Fox lineup tonight. Replay? Still got World Series listed. TiVo-1, Replay-0. (Replay also showed WS listings Sat. night - I don't know about TiVo)

b) TiVoTakes moved time/day/channel next week. TiVo correctly shows the new time. Replay? Nope. TiVo-2, Replay-0. (Note: TiVo should have updated itself Thursday night to work w/ the airing of TiVoTakes but it didn't)

c) Grosse Point announced on Friday that it was moving to Sunday nights. TiVo updated. Replay has not yet. TiVo-3, Replay-0.

d) Tucker on NBC has been cancelled (it used to air Monday). TiVo removed it from listings. Replay did not. TiVo-4, Replay-0.

Anyone else think this sucks? I sure do!

Not to mention 9 days after downloading the updates to the Zones, the ReplayTV Presents thing STILL doesn't work.

Now...if I can once again talk about something I have numerous times in the past: cutting off description listings.

Can someone at ReplayTV explain HOW the display chooses where to cut off. I'm getting really upset trying to figure this out...it seems there's no rhyme or reason to it - not character length, number of words, doesn't seem to limit the amount of actors names - as those are quite different sometimes.

WHY does Replay sometimes cut off "earlier" than others? Sometimes descriptions go to the second line...sometimes not...

And a suggestion? Don't cut off in the middle of a word! If Replay can't fit the whole word it should stop BEFORE that word. It looks incredible sloppy to split words - especially when visually you can clearly see a TON of space left.

End rant.

But...I'd still hope SOMEONE from Replay can admit:

a) Why such things like the World Series listings weren't updated

b) HOW Replay decides when/where to cut off descriptions

Often networks simply don't provide schedules. Or they do haphazardly.

Comedy Central for a few weeks had descriptions for Battlebots. They've stopped.

NBC never used to give descriptions for their soap operas...but then they started to a few months ago. For some unknown reason as of this week they've stopped again. Maybe they'll come back, maybe not...who knows.

When you don't see ANYTHING, that's not Relay's fault. That's the networks not providing information. Why? They're lazy http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/wink.gif

Just FYI.

Sunday night (Monday AM around 5am) my Replay failed it's nightly call.

I tried two net connects on two numbers and they were REALLY slow so I cancelled them - this is around 8am.

As soon as I get off the 'net I'm gonna try again...I'm testing to see if Replay updates for Tucker's cancellation at 8pm today.

Just did a successful net connect.

Tucker is still listed. Failed again, Replay Channel Guide.

Oh, and the ReplayTV Presents Zone STILL doesn't work. Just for kicks I deleted the recording *I* set up just to test the Zone setting. Don't worry...I have a backup recording on my (reliable and daily-updating) TiVo.

Hmmm, it's Monday morning, and the World Series isn't listed in any of my program information.... And unless it changed Sunday's data in last night's call, it wasn't in Sunday's data either...

Are you sure you're getting your nightly updates?

Mike,

My two Replay boxes had different guide data listed for Sunday. One had the World Series, and the other had the regular Fox lineup listed. I tried updating the WS one a couple of times, but the data didn't change. Unfortunately, I wanted to record the Fox shows on the machine that had the bad data. Both machines were using the same zip info and dialin number.

Mike:

Yep, my TiVo (same zip and cable provider, obviously) is correct. For the record: 14214, Adelphia Rebuild (non-Digital).

Tucker is on NBC (WGRZ-2) at 8:30pm Monday.

I do Net Connects OFTEN and usually WATCH them...I did one around 4pm today and it was successful. I also check Messages DAILY - haven't had a lot of "failed connects" (and even when I do, I make sure to do a Net Connect later that day - like today).

My Replay IS connecting...I sure as heck get the new software and Zones...

PLEASE help! As you know, 100% (or close to it) Channel Guide data is my pet peeve...

Can someone from ReplayTV respond?

Why were some people receiving updates and others weren't? Was it an error? A timezone thing? TMS errors?

If it was an error has it been fixed?

Just wondering...
