Infinite Baffle Design - Can I do this?

I was reading some threads and Brickie mentioned Infinite Baffles with 18" Avalanches. I am ccurrently building two sealed subs using 12" Atlas drivers. However I am intrigued by this IB design, yet not fully understanding it. Anyway I have a HT that is 19'6" x 15" room, off to the right is a room where I access my equipment from the back though the components are accessible from the front in the HT. This room is approximately 12' x 3' x 8'8". It is drywalled but not completely sealed. There is also a french door for access to the room. The equipment rack I currently have is slightly past the mid point of the HT, towards the back. I have attached a photo showing the rack on the left. I was wondering if I could remove all equipment and store in this smaller room and use this space for two Avalanches, I would use 15". If so is there anything special I would have to do to the opening for reinforcement or whatnot? Actually the frame around the opening is quite solid. Thanks.

Not sure I understand the layout, but in any case the only requirement is that the volume for the IB be isolated from the room.

Sealing the IB volume isn't necessary, that just makes it less infinite :)
