I picked up a pair of RS4001's at a garage sale and the foam around the woofers is starting to come apart. Should I refoam the woofers or would I be better off replacing them with something different?

If the foam is inexpensive.......give it a try....nothing to lose.

If it works.....winner winner chicken dinner.

The foam kits are about $20. I just didn't know if replacing the woofer with something else would be an improvement over the stock(re-foamed) woofers?

It's $20 to test, vs a higher amount to match the drivers, so...

I did "all" the woofers on the bass stacks on some IRS Bata's I had... came out great but what a job..
Take it slow and keep the cone centered and you'll be fine.
